TNR Program

Requirements:

The cats are not your house pets. They are trapped cats from the community. They can be barn cats, a stray cat you have been caring for outside, or a full colony of cats that keep multiplying in your neighborhood. But they are not your pets.

If you do decide to keep the cat after the surgery, there are additional items you may consider having done at the time of surgery. Please know It is not the same medicine we do for our hospital patients.

We are only doing this type of surgery on specific days of the week. The surgery must be scheduled. We cannot accept walk-ins. Please call to set up your date. We also understand if you are unsuccessful in catching the cat in the trap. Please call to arrange another day. Do not continue keeping the trap out until your next surgery date. The traps are to be used humanely.

  • ALL Cats MUST arrive in a humane trap. Please use zip ties to ensure secure closure! We will not accept any cat in a cat carrier. For all parties' safety, we will need to sedate in the humane trap.
  • When bringing the cat in for surgery, please make sure to have the trap completely covered with a blanket or towel
  • You MUST pay when you drop off. You will find all costs on the consent form.
  • Cats MUST be picked up no later than 4:30/4:45. We do not hold them overnight.
  • If the cat is spayed or neutered already, there is still a charge. There will not be a refund. The patient is still sedated, rabies vaccinated and ear tipped.
  • The cats must be returned to the SAME location you found them
  • The Consent Form is to be filled out when the cat is dropped off. You may find additional information on the consent form
  • Please have your trap labeled with your last name on the tag
  • Drop off time for surgery is between 8-8:30. The absolute latest is 9:30. We want to be able to give the cats plenty of time to recover before picking up from surgery
  • We highly recommend bringing a large carrier for the cat to recover in when you drop off. Females 72-hour hold, and Males 48-hour hold is the ideal time before releasing them safely. But they cannot stay in the trap for that time.
  • All cats left ears will be cut by 1 cm from tip. It is NOT an option
  • All cats will receive a rabies vaccine at the time of surgery and a pain injection
  • The cat must be no younger than 4 months
  • We will First scan for a microchip and look for an ear tip after the patient is safely sedated
  • The 2nd step is to check for sex. We will also make sure all testicles are descended
  • If you do not bring a large carrier for recovery, the cat will go back in the trap.
  • Please call the office with any questions or to schedule your surgery appointment.
